About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Townscape Operations Manager to join our team in North Queensland. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing various operations, including town maintenance, water treatment, airport operations, waste management, local plant and depot management, staff management, capital works, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Town Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of parks, gardens, and public infrastructure to ensure they are well-maintained and safe for residents and visitors.
  • Water Treatment: Manage water treatment plants and implement quality control measures to guarantee compliance with industry standards.
  • Airport Operations: Ensure the aerodrome and other town airstrips are operational and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Waste Management: Oversee waste collection and landfill operations in the Shire, focusing on efficient and environmentally friendly practices.
  • Local Plant & Depot Management: Manage depots and associated fleets, ensuring effective use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Staff Management: Develop, monitor, and manage the performance of personnel reporting to this position, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Capital Works: Collaborate with engineering services to coordinate local capital projects, prioritizing timely completion and budget efficiency.
  • Asset Management: Oversee asset maintenance and contribute to long-term plans for asset replacement and upgrade.
  • Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): Implement and oversee safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in water or waste management, such as Cert III in Water Treatment or higher.
  • Proven experience in leadership or equivalent management positions, demonstrating your ability to inspire and guide teams.
  • Familiarity with financial and administrative systems used by councils, such as Practical, Infoexpert, Infocouncil, and Microsoft Office.
  • An understanding of local government policies, budgets, and plans, as well as applicable legislative requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment and reticulation systems, water planning, and control.
  • The ability to obtain knowledge of airport management services, including baggage handling contract oversight.
  • An understanding of contemporary waste management and landfill management practices, along with environmental health monitoring.
