
Culturally Sensitive Community Development Specialist

The Practice Lead will oversee various initiatives and services aimed at supporting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. These programs encompass mental health, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), and other community support services.
This senior role provides leadership and supervision to Program Team Leaders and is responsible for the effective day-to-day operations of services. The Practice Lead will ensure program delivery meets funding requirements, reporting obligations, and aligns with evidence-based and best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Strategic Guidance: Provide high-level advice and report to the Executive Manager in planning and decision-making.
- Program Oversight: Lead and manage the delivery of government and partner-funded programs, ensuring quality outcomes.
- Staff Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop Team Leaders to build capability and maintain strong performance.
- Community Engagement: Strengthen connections with CALD communities to ensure services are culturally safe and responsive.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization with professionalism, building and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Lead risk identification, assessment, and implementation of strategies to mitigate risks in service delivery.
- Compliance & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, reporting, and resources in line with policies, procedures, and funding body requirements.
Demonstrated experience in program leadership within the health, community, or social services sector is essential.
A strong understanding of issues impacting CALD communities is required.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff is necessary.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills are essential.
Ability to manage compliance, reporting, and risk management processes is crucial.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or a related field
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a community or human services context is required.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational and team development skills are necessary.
- Proven ability in planning, service design and program evaluation is essential.
- Understanding and application of best practice approaches in mental health, AOD and comorbidity issues are required.
- Work experience with CALD clients/communities is necessary.
