Wildlife Rescuer Opportunity

This role is an exciting chance to contribute to the conservation of wildlife and animal welfare. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our Rescue team as a Casual Rescuer.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the needs of individuals they care for, with strong presentation and social skills, a current 1st Aid certificate, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. They will report directly to the Head of Department and work with an experienced rescue team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures as required
  • Ensure wildlife rescues are carried out with safety of staff, public and animals as priority
  • Prioritise incoming rescue phone calls and liaise with the Wildlife Hospital
  • Maintain records of diary entries and rescue/research data
  • Ensure Rescue department's area is regularly cleaned and remains presentable at all times
  • Communicate with Head of Department regarding day-to-day operations, health and safety, training needs and incidents
  • Participate in filming/media activities and undertake skills training and development reviews
  • Conduct environment and vehicle safety checks
  • Provide high standard of customer service at all times

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong presentation and social skills
  • Current 1st Aid certificate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Available to work weekends, public holidays and school holiday periods
  • Ability to empathise and communicate clearly
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with others
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills
  • Ability to deal with people - having maturity, integrity, compassion and empathy
  • Hold current Manual Driver's Licence
  • Proof of coronavirus vaccination (unless otherwise exempt)
  • Proof of Q-fever vaccination (unless otherwise exempt)

Preferred Criteria:

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Any associated licenses; training, workplace health and safety
  • Hold a current Marine Vessel License
  • Leadership experience
  • Animal training qualifications
