Animal Care Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Animal Care Specialist. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional animal welfare and husbandry.

  • Undertake cleaning and maintenance of the animal enclosures as required
  • Assist with the planning, development and construction of enclosures
  • Comply with all relevant legislation including animal welfare regulations
  • Communicate effectively with others and share information as required
  • Conduct animal health checks
  • Prepare food and conduct feeding of the animals in your care
  • Maintain records of observations and reports
  • Conduct environment and enclosure safety checks

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, including husbandry and keeping experience
  • High level of motivation and long-term commitment
  • Relevant vaccinations for working in the wildlife industry (Tetanus, Lyssavirus, Q fever)
  • Self-motivation, initiative and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and evidence-based decision making
  • Computer literacy including Excel, Word, Power Point & online skills
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills & ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Flexibility with days/hours of work (including weekends, public holidays and school holidays)
