Wildlife Care Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wildlife Care Professional to join our team in Queensland.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about animal care and well-being, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and husbandry for a variety of species, including Sumatran Elephants, Red Pandas, and Tigers.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily animal care and maintenance tasks, including cleaning enclosures, preparing food, and conducting health checks.
  • Develop and implement enrichment programs tailored to individual animals' needs.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other zoo staff to ensure optimal animal care and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal behavior, observations, and interactions via ZIMS.
Essential Criteria

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • Experience working with large species and conducting enriching activities, exercising, and husbandry routines.
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and ability to construct and review feeding regimes.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle conflict and high-pressure situations.
  • Current manual driver's license and reliable vehicle for commuting to and from work.
  • High level of physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks.
PREFERRED CRITERIA

Preferred candidates will also possess:

  • Current 1st Aid qualifications.
  • Relevant certificates/qualifications involving Leadership, Training, WHS.
  • Experience using ZIMS and keeping accurate records of animal behaviors and interactions.
