About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Aboriginal Youth Mentor to join our team at headspace Esperance. As a key member of our community engagement team, you will play a vital role in promoting mental health awareness and support among young people from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive community awareness plans to engage young people and promote mental health literacy.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure evidence-based health promotion messages and activities are delivered to the community.
  • Facilitate youth programs, events, and activities that promote positive relationships and social connections among young people.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop and deliver mental health education sessions and workshops.
  • Participate in community events and activities that promote mental health awareness and support.
About You

We are looking for an individual with a strong passion for working with young people and a commitment to promoting mental health awareness and support. You will have:

  • Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to the development of community awareness plans and programs.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues affecting young people and the ability to provide support and guidance.
  • Competence in information technology and software packages, with a willingness to learn and implement new systems.
