About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our team at Hope Community Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting mental health awareness and providing support to young people and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Awareness and Engagement: Develop and implement community awareness programs to promote mental health literacy and reduce stigma around mental illness.
  • Youth Program Coordination: Coordinate and facilitate youth programs, events, and activities to engage young people and promote positive mental health outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including community organizations, schools, and healthcare providers.
  • Program Development and Evaluation: Develop, implement, and evaluate community awareness programs to ensure they are effective and meet the needs of our target audience.
  • Communication and Marketing: Develop and implement effective communication and marketing strategies to promote our services and programs to the community.
Requirements
  • Experience in Community Development: Proven experience in community development, youth work, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health: Strong knowledge of mental health principles, policies, and practices.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education and Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as community development, youth work, or a related field.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in the Not-for-Profit Sector: Experience working in the not-for-profit sector, particularly in community development and youth work.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures: Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories, and experience working with Indigenous communities.
