About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Head of Portfolio Management Office to join our client, a mid-market financial services company based in Chatswood. The successful candidate will lead a lean portfolio governance function, enabling the delivery of significant business change and tech stack transformation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Design and Implementation of a Project Management Methodology
- Develop and implement a project management methodology that aligns with the company's strategic objectives
- Establish standards and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency in change delivery
- Lead Lean Agile Operations
- Plan and execute delivery ceremonies, including quarterly planning
- Ensure that delivery teams are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to deliver projects successfully
- Lead Portfolio Governance
- Develop and implement a reporting framework to provide a holistic view of all activities across the portfolio
- Manage the lifecycle of initiatives through phases, ensuring appropriate approvals are in place
- Enable the Portfolio Steering Committee
- Prepare high-quality initiative status and recommendations for the Portfolio Steering Committee
- Ensure that the committee has the necessary information to make informed decisions
- Manage Interdependencies and Coordination
- Identify and manage interdependencies between initiatives
- Ensure that information relating to deliverables, risks, and issues is effectively communicated between stakeholders
- Influence the Utilization and Impact of Scarce Business Resources
- Work with business stakeholders to ensure that resources are allocated effectively
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators to ensure that projects are delivering value
- Play an Active Role in Managing the Portfolio Roadmap
- Assist with the management of critical initiatives
- Ensure that the portfolio roadmap is aligned with the company's strategic objectives
- Support CAPEX Management
- Assist with budget planning and management for the project portfolio
- Ensure that CAPEX is allocated effectively to support business objectives
- Work Closely with Cross-Functional Teams
- Collaborate with the Platforms, Operations, and Architecture teams to ensure that initiatives are aligned with infrastructure, architecture, and security roadmaps
- Ensure that initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
- Manage Effective Engagement and Delivery of Third Parties
- Manage the engagement and delivery of third-party vendors
- Ensure that third-party engagements are budgeted and paid appropriately
- Minimum of 5 Years' Experience in a Similar Role
- Proven experience leading PMO functions
- Expertise in Implementing Agile and Waterfall Methodologies
- Ability to manage the complexities of blending Agile and Waterfall approaches across projects
- Experience scaling Agile methodologies (across teams), such as SAFe or Disciplined Agile highly desired
- Superior Understanding of IT Technologies, Delivery Frameworks, and Change Management Techniques
- Strong CAPEX management experience, plus experience delivering transformation initiatives (including business case management)
- Strong Ability to Drive Change and Foster a Culture of Agility and Continuous Improvement
- Strong resource management experience to match forecast demands
- Strong Experience Managing Teams and Highly Developed Leadership and Mentoring Skills
