Job Summary:

Marsh is seeking a highly skilled Placement Broker to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the placement of existing and new business, serving as a key negotiator and problem solver in obtaining the most appropriate placements based on our client needs.

About the Role:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with underwriters, practice leaders, claims personnel, and client service teams to drive business growth and deliver exceptional client service.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of clear and effective renewal and broking strategies to meet client needs.
  • Possess and apply a good understanding of Property, Engineering, General Liability, and Motor classes of insurance, as well as keep abreast of all new technical and product developments through attendance at company and industry training events.
  • Possess and apply a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Fire Services Levy, Stamp Duties, Worker's Compensation, GST, key Trade Practices Act provisions, and other relevant legislation.
  • Work within and across the region to support new business growth and assist in the development of new products.
  • Keep abreast of changing market conditions and inform practice client servicing teams and/or clients of major developments affecting various types of coverage.

Requirements:

  • Ideally, a minimum of five years' experience within a broking, underwriting, or placement position.
  • A solid understanding of risk management and major classes of insurance (Property, Liability, and Motor) would be highly regarded.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Relevant broking qualifications (Tier 1 Compliance) and tertiary studies are desired.
