Job Description

Marsh is seeking a highly skilled Placement Broker to join our Sydney office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the placement of existing and new business, while serving as a key negotiator and problem solver in obtaining the most appropriate placements based on our client needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with underwriters, practice leaders, claims personnel, and client service teams.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of clear and effective renewal and broking strategies as required.
  • Possess and apply a good understanding of Property/Engineering/General Liability and Motor classes of insurance and keep abreast of all new technical and product developments through attendance at company and industry training events.
  • Possess and apply a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Fire Services Levy, Stamp Duties, Worker's Compensation, GST, key Trade Practices Act provisions, and other relevant legislation and keep abreast of all new developments.
  • Work within and across the region to support new business growth and assist in the development of new products.
  • Keep abreast of changing market conditions and inform practice client servicing teams and/or clients of major developments affecting various types of coverage.
Requirements:
  • Ideally, a minimum of five years' experience within a broking, underwriting, or placement position.
  • A solid understanding of risk management and major classes of insurance (Property, Liability, and Motor) would be highly regarded.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Relevant broking qualifications (Tier 1 Compliance) and tertiary studies are desired.
