Main Objectives:

The Operations Coordinator is primarily accountable for leading the Bitumen Operations Excellence Program globally through the implementation of operational guidelines, quality control, improvement in equipment reliability, constant innovation, cost reduction, training, verification, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management System Compliance

  1. Comply and support the Quality Management system in all aspects of your role.
  2. Adept and implement the principles of continuous improvement in all aspects of your role.
  3. Ensure the awareness of customer requirements (internal & external) are promoted throughout the business.
  4. Review, monitor, and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the quality management system.
  5. Engage, support, and continuously improve communication processes that support the quality management system and provide positive outcomes for the business, customers, and key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY:

Operations Excellence

Lead the Bitumen Operations Excellence program, in line with the Puma Energy Operational Excellence procedures;

  1. Maintain, standardise, and document Bitumen operational standards and processes.
  2. Design and execute training programs for employees at all levels on operational excellence principles and techniques to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  3. Develop and maintain an auditing program for compliance to the standards and practices, including training team members.

Improvement Initiatives

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to propose innovative solutions to address issues in order to enhance the businesses efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Work with all functions to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction.

Documentation and Business Tools

  1. Oversee the documentation and updating of processes and procedures to reflect current best practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Develop and maintain standard tools used by operations to achieve consistency, efficiency, and reduce errors.

Key Performance Indicators

Establish and monitor key performance indicators to track progress and impact of operational excellence initiatives.

Operational Competency

Maintain a high level of competence in Operational duties performed at Terminals, completed by supervisors and frontline workers. Provide backfill for strategic roles, when necessary.

Training

Develop, maintain, and deliver training and assessment programs for Operational duties, including train-the-trainer programs to enable other workers to conduct informal on-the-job training and assessment.

Business Support:

Any other relevant tasks as directed by your Manager.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  1. Qualifications that best support this role are tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline or relevant Trade Certification.
  1. > 5 years of experience in frontline industrial operations, Bitumen experience preferred.
  2. Strong business acumen.
  3. The ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively with others.
  4. Effective communicator.
  5. Knowledge of relevant industry safety, engineering standards, and trade practices.
  6. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly regarding processing equipment.
  7. Experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
  8. Strong customer focus and self-motivated to identify and implement operational improvements.
  9. Strong computer skills using Office Suite.
  10. Willingness to travel both nationally and globally.
