Job DescriptionWe are seeking a seasoned Director of Legal for the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region to manage and oversee the Legal, Ethics, and Compliance team across ANZ.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and Manage a Team of Senior Legal Counsels: Provide expert legal, ethics, and compliance advice on contracts, litigation, compliance, insurance, and employment law.
- Collaborate with Corporate Governance: Work closely with the Corporate Secretary/E&C Manager to ensure corporate governance and maintain high ethical standards.
- Strategic Legal Advice: Provide strategic, solutions-focused legal advice to support business operations and ensure regulatory compliance across the region.
- Dispute Resolution and Compliance: Oversee and manage disputes, litigation, and claims, coordinating with external counsel and the central Insurance and Litigation teams.
- Ethics and Compliance Program: Drive the implementation and enhancement of the Ethics & Compliance program, including training and advising teams on compliance matters.
- Corporate Governance and Licensing: Ensure effective corporate governance, including entity management, regulatory compliance, and licensing.
- Mergers and Acquisitions: Play an active role in mergers and acquisitions, supporting the central Legal M&A team.
- Regional Representation: Represent the legal team in regional meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of Group Legal processes and best practices.
- Qualifications: Degree in Law or a related qualification.
- Experience: Extensive experience in the Legal function, ideally in the engineering or industrial sectors.
- Expertise: Strong expertise in Australian and New Zealand commercial, corporate, and regulatory law.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with a collaborative approach.
- Professionalism: Proactive, solutions-driven mindset with high integrity and professionalism.
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills and experience working in diverse, multicultural environments.
