Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Professional

About the Role:

HSE Leadership and Governance:
  1. Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive HSE management plan tailored to the project's specific needs.
  2. Provide guidance and leadership to ensure a safe working environment across all project phases, fostering a proactive safety culture through engagement, training, and consistent communication.
  3. Advise project leadership on HSE-related issues, risks, and strategies, ensuring seamless integration with project objectives.
Regulatory Compliance and Standards:
  1. Ensure strict adherence to local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  2. Oversee incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented, maintaining records and documentation in compliance with legal and company standards.
Training and Awareness:
  1. Design and deliver HSE training programs for project staff and subcontractors, ensuring all employees and contractors understand and adhere to HSE policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns, promoting a culture of safety throughout the project lifecycle.
Risk Management and Mitigation:
  1. Identify project-specific HSE risks and develop effective mitigation strategies, leading the implementation of control measures for high-risk activities, including confined space work, heavy lifting, and working at height.
  2. Manage emergency response plans and coordinate drills, ensuring preparedness for potential incidents.
Environmental Stewardship:
  1. Monitor and manage environmental impacts associated with the project, promoting sustainability practices and ensuring compliance with environmental permits and standards.
  2. Prepare environmental impact reports and liaise with regulatory bodies as required, maintaining transparency and accountability.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certifications: NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH membership, or equivalent qualifications. Environmental management certifications (e.g., ISO 14001) are advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of HSE management experience on large industrial or construction projects, demonstrating a proven track record of implementing and managing HSE systems in a high-risk environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessment and mitigation, proficiency in HSE reporting software and tools.
