We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons team, providing compassionate support to our elderly clients in Residential Aged Care Facilities across the Central and Eastern Sydney region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for older adults, identifying their unique needs and developing personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to promote emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to ensure holistic care and support, advocating for the mental health needs of older adults within the RACF.
- Engage with staff of RACFs to promote the Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons program, encouraging their adoption and support.
- Ensure that participants are involved in implementing individual recovery plans, facilitating and encouraging them to work towards goals and increase capacity to become more independent.
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a field such as Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or Registered Nursing.
- Minimum two years' experience in counselling, psychotherapy, or other focused psychological strategies, including working with individuals with mental health challenges and/or experience in the aged care sector.
- Current membership to a professional body, such as AHPRA, AASW, or Australian Counselling Association.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence and own comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid NSW Working with Children's Check for paid employment purposes, NDIS check and certification, Police check.
