Job Overview

We are seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to join our Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons team. As a key member of our team, you will provide counselling and holistic mental health support to our elderly clients living in Residential Aged Care Facilities across the Central and Eastern Sydney region.

Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for older adults
  • Develop tailored treatment plans to meet each client's unique needs
  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and caregivers to ensure holistic care and support
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of older adults within the RACF
  • Facilitate and encourage clients to work towards goals and increase their capacity for independence
  • Engage with RACF staff to promote the Emotional Wellbeing Program and encourage its adoption
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a field such as psychology, social work, or nursing
  • Minimum two years' experience in counselling, psychotherapy, or a related field
  • Current membership to a professional body, such as AHPRA or AASW
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and own comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid NSW Working with Children's Check and Police check
