About the Role

Flourish Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Officer to join our NDIS Program team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in improving access to and experience of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with mental health services to identify individuals who are eligible for the NDIS and assist them in obtaining the necessary support.
  • Collaborate with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, and other NDIS providers to ensure individuals are connected to the NDIS and the supports they need.
  • Build the capacity of mental health service staff around the NDIS through mentoring and training.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers to assist individuals in accessing the necessary supports.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in human services or a relevant field, or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilize the NDIS.
  • Excellent understanding of NDIS eligibility criteria as it applies to psychosocial disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of staff, including through mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully liaise with service providers to assist individuals in accessing the necessary supports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  • Current unrestricted Australian driver's license (P2 license acceptable).
  • Vaccination Category A.
Desirable Qualifications
  • A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal consumers, families, and communities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with CALD consumers, families, and communities.
