As the Events Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with our Groups & Events Sales Manager to effectively secure and manage event business at our resort. Once the business is confirmed, you will take full responsibility for the events, serving as the primary contact for all group and event-related activities. Your role will involve building strong relationships with event organizers and ensuring seamless communication with our sales and operations teams to surpass client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation and management of all event documentation, including Conferences, Incentives, Weddings, and Private Events from the point of contract signing to the group's departure.
  • Generate and process banquet event orders efficiently.
  • Regularly update the Meetings and Event Forecast and Operations Calendar, representing Events in operational meetings and leading pre-conference discussions.
  • Provide leadership, development, training, and mentorship to the events team.
  • Achieve budgeted targets for wage costs and expenses.
  • Ensure all events are executed according to the established event orders.
  • Conduct site inspections and client meet-and-greets as necessary.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients leading up to the event, advising them on important contractual milestones.
  • Stay informed about available third-party vendor services and foster strong ongoing relationships.
  • Prepare, maintain, and share group resumes for all resort groups.
  • Organize, prepare, and lead pre-conference meetings with all key stakeholders.

Our Banksia Pavilion is the largest event space in the Northern Rivers region, featuring controllable natural light, two high-resolution video walls, and state-of-the-art AV installations. It opens to the Banksia Terrace, a lavish outdoor courtyard with a private bar. We also offer various event spaces including the Duck Pond area, The Lawn, Belongil Pavilion, Private Dining room, and Breeze Poolside Bar.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar management role within a resort environment or 4 years in event coordination is highly regarded.
  • Proven knowledge and skills in Food and Beverage operations, along with substantial experience in Conference and Event management.
  • A collaborative team player who remains composed under pressure, with strong analytical thinking and prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, demonstrating a high level of responsibility, accountability, and ownership.
  • Confidence in engaging with peers and senior colleagues, empowering others to make informed decisions.
  • Understanding of budget management and P&L financial reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with Delphi or similar systems is advantageous.
  • Well-presented with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Possession of a current NSW RSA and driver's license.
  • Current NSW Food Handler Basics Training Certificate or willingness to complete it.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
  • Must be an Australian resident or citizen; temporary working or student visa holders will not be considered.
