Acute Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Acute Care Mental Health Team at Sutherland Mental Health Service.
The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing acute care and crisis services to mental health clients in the Sutherland Shire or who present to the emergency department of Sutherland Hospital.

The role involves a range of specialist mental health interventions, including triage, comprehensive assessments, risk assessments, clinical formulation, management of risks and safety planning, brief psycho-education, and close liaison with all relevant stakeholders as part of collaborative care and discharge planning.
In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to work with people with acute mental illness or disorder, developing your skills and experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
As a member of our team, you will be expected to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with your years of experience.
We offer a competitive salary package, with an estimated annual salary ranging from $75,151 to $108,342, plus superannuation.

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria, which include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia;
- Demonstrated core competency skills in Mental Health interventions in the Community and experience in providing comprehensive mental health assessments, risk assessment, safety planning, and collaborative care and discharge planning;
- Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery;
- Demonstrated experience working with people with an acute mental illness or disorder;
- Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and exercising independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience;
- Demonstrated computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems;
- Understanding and knowledge of mental health principles of consumer-focused and strengths-based practices in acute community mental health settings;
- Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence.
