Job Role Overview

As a valued member of our Child and Family Services Division, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, trauma-informed crisis counselling, safety planning, and practical support to clients navigating domestic and family violence.
  • Advocate for individuals and families, offering short-term assistance and connecting clients with life-changing community and government services.
  • Collaborate with professionals, including domestic violence workers, lawyers, and mental health professionals, to create holistic solutions for our clients.

Required Skills and Qualifications

**We're looking for someone with the following capabilities:**

  • Expertise in Trauma-Informed Practice: You have experience in providing crisis counselling, advocacy, and support to people impacted by domestic and family violence.
  • Understanding of Social Issues: You are familiar with the challenges affecting families and individuals experiencing domestic and family violence.
  • Strong Communication Skills: You can communicate effectively with a diverse range of clients, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and represent our organization with professionalism.
  • Collaborative Approach: You can build and sustain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Relevant Legislation: You understand legislation affecting families, including family law, domestic and family violence, child protection, and related areas.
