Operational Maintainer Role

Aurizon offers a career-launching opportunity in rail operations through our Operational Maintainer Traineeship. As a trainee, you'll participate in a structured program combining hands-on experience with nationally recognized qualifications. Work alongside experienced colleagues in a fast-paced environment to develop skills for long-term success with Australia's leading rail freight operator.

About the Role
  • Control train movement and execute instructions while maintaining safety.
  • Inspect for faults, repair, service, and maintain rolling stock.
  • Support locomotive, ancillary vehicle, machine, and equipment maintenance.
  • Conduct brake testing of trains.
  • Effectively communicate with depot personnel, clients, and operational staff via face-to-face interaction and two-way radio.
  • Undertake shunting and marshalling of trains.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • C Class Driver's Licence (mandatory)
  • Shunt qualification (mandatory)
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Will to work day and night shifts (up to 12 hours) and weekend work as required
