Senior Project Coordinator for Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program

Special Projects Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate rapid responses to ad-hoc requests related to policy, thematic, and cross-cutting issues within the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.
  • Project manage from inception through to implementation, monitoring, and completion phases for special projects and ad-hoc requests.
  • Develop high-quality data-driven briefing, research, monitoring, and reporting deliverables as part of special project delivery.
  • Provide written policy feedback, ideas, and advice to government on emerging issues.
  • Develop talking points for senior government officials on complex policy and process issues relating to the PALM scheme.
  • Undertake agreed internal and external sub-projects designed to improve program performance.
  • Recruit and procure specialist resources required to deliver on tasking notes.
  • Provide coordination and secretariat functions as part of special projects.
  • Report regularly on special project progress to stakeholders.
  • Support leads on delivery of other key program activities and scope additional initiatives in discussion with leadership.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as management, economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a policy and/or project management context.
  • Experience working with Australian Government agencies.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Government processes, reporting requirements, and briefing practices.
  • Contemporary knowledge of policy issues and debates in migration, Australian economics, and regional geo-politics in the Pacific.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with various stakeholders and work together to achieve results.
  • Convening and facilitating interaction between diverse groups.
  • Excellent written and presenting English skills, including writing briefings in an Australian public service context.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.

Benefits

This is a fixed term opportunity required until September 2028. The position will be based in Brisbane or Canberra office.

The selected candidate must have valid Australian work rights. Visa sponsorship is not available.
