Project Support Specialist Job Description

Delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future requires a skilled Project Support Specialist.

This vital role involves:

  • Developing detailed project schedules, resource plans, and work breakdown structures to ensure delivery milestones are met.
  • Coordinating workforce planning, task tracking, and issue resolution to keep projects on track in dynamic environments.
  • Supporting governance reporting through weekly status updates, financial tracking, and milestone progress.
  • Maintaining and monitoring project registers (risks, issues, actions) to contribute to risk mitigation planning and resolution.
  • Facilitating cross-functional coordination and stakeholder engagement for effective communication and alignment.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Proven ability to manage detailed project schedules, resource plans, and reporting tools to support milestone delivery.
  • Strong coordination skills across workforce planning, task tracking, and issue resolution in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience maintaining project registers and supporting risk mitigation strategies to ensure continuity.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication across internal teams and external partners.
  • Familiarity with Defence or infrastructure programs, with proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and governance reporting.
