Sustainability Leadership Opportunity

Join a dynamic team of professionals dedicated to driving impactful change and making a positive impact on the world. As a Sustainability Strategy Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing and leading programs that align with our sustainability goals and ambitions.

This position requires proactively identifying, understanding, and addressing sustainability-related opportunities and risks within the industry. You will stay at the forefront of customer needs and provide compelling propositions that enable both the bank and our customers to make a positive impact on the world.

The Sustainability Strategy Manager collaborates across the organization and leads teams responsible for sustainability performance management and reporting, overseeing the implementation of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking. Other complementary initiatives include the Financial Inclusion Action Plan, Reconciliation Action Plan, and Climate Change Action Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) outcomes in line with the Bank's strategy and customer promise.
  • Support business units in designing and delivering sustainability-aligned propositions that meet our customer promise of 'Banking You Can Feel Good About.'
  • Enhance the Bank's ESG opportunity identification capability, enabling an understanding of areas for overall ESG improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior executives to incorporate sustainability-related insights into decision-making processes and ensure ESG measures are integrated into work practices and strategic initiative success metrics.
  • Contribute to Bank strategy development, focusing on ESG trends and growth spaces.
  • Identify and drive alignment opportunities with complementary programs, including but not limited to the Financial Inclusion Action Plan and Climate Change Action Plan.
  • Foster relationships and strategic alignment with key functions, such as Bank Governance, Risk, Customer Advocate, Corporate Affairs, Marketing, and Product.
  • Provide coaching, leadership, and guidance to teams requiring increased ESG acumen, driving an integrated facts-based approach to ESG opportunities and threats.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Data Analytics, Management/Strategy, Communications, Economics, or related fields.
  • Post-graduate qualification in ESG, Sustainability, or Corporate Responsibility is desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience leading major sustainability programs, preferably in Banking or Financial Services.
  • Proven experience in strategy and customer proposition development.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of driving organizational-wide change across a large, diverse workforce.
