About the Role

The APS6 Case Manager is a key position within our Federal Government Agency, responsible for undertaking complex case management activities under limited direction. This role requires strong leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management, and decision-making skills to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake end-to-end case management activities, subject to appropriate line manager input and oversight.
  • Resolve matters through case management of AAT applications related to reviewable decisions and access decisions.
  • Manage complex AAT matters, analysing and developing options for early resolution.
  • Obtain necessary information and advice to effectively resolve AAT matters.
  • Apply alternate dispute resolution methods and advocacy skills to resolve applications/reviews, in accordance with model litigant principles.
  • Attend Case Conferences, Conciliations, and Hearings conducted by the AAT.
  • Prepare documents detailing resolution options and outcomes for Case Management meetings.
  • Assess and respond to priorities and risks, including risks to participants, Scheme sustainability, and the organisation.
  • Prepare and maintain electronic records, including evidence supporting decision-making processes and justifying conclusions reached during the case management process.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in case management, particularly in complex and sensitive cases.
  • Strong understanding of the NDIS Act 2013 and related legislation.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to exercise initiative and judgement in interpreting information, legislation and policy.
  • Experience in strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development.
  • Proficiency in electronic record-keeping and documentation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the NDIS and support for people with disabilities.
