In Australia, we are developing unmanned maritime and air domain systems leveraging unsupervised autonomy for long-endurance, multi-mission capabilities. This requires Senior Software Engineers with broad experience to drive delivery of various software-enabled capabilities to our customers.

Job Summary

We seek a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team as a Defensive Technology Architect. In this role, you will rapidly develop expertise in new domains to architect, design, deliver, support, and evolve next-generation capabilities through the entire product life-cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert for your areas of expertise related to delivery of Anduril's software-enabled capabilities, including hardware selection, compute, storage, and network architecture, service orchestration, application logic, and other software concerns.
  • Empathize with end-users and drive solutions balancing their needs with external constraints, restrictions, and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Own software-enabled solutions deployed to customers, optimizing for delivery of value to the end-user.
  • Design and implement scalable software rapidly delivering capability beyond current platforms, with a clear path for both architecture and capability evolution over time.
  • Contribute to design and development of existing software services across Anduril, aiming to develop components reusable across multiple product lines.
  • Develop software running on- and off-robotic platforms using various technologies.
  • Contribute to design, implementation, and execution of development processes for initial delivery and subsequent iteration of vehicle and mission software, including full lifecycle testing, monitoring, and operation.
  • Create test and simulation fixtures operating with both software- and hardware-in-the-loop.
  • Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment.
  • Travel to co-locate with end-users up to 20% of the time.
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, including as a mentor for Software Engineers from differing backgrounds.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive professional experience working as a Software Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of expertise.
  • Systems and/or application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, software design, and system design.
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems.
  • Capacity to work holistically on software-enabled capabilities up and down the software stack and through lifecycle through design, implementation, operation, and sustainment.
  • Capacity to act as technical owner for a software service, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, team coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
  • Capacity to learn and grow individually, while mentoring junior team members effectively, building team cohesion, and capacity.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this role is $150,000-$200,000 AUD, depending on experience, plus highly competitive equity grants, top-tier benefits, and a generous professional development stipend.
