Workplace Health Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at The Industry School.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on health and safety matters, including compliance and management of our safety management system.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures to meet legislative requirements and organisational needs
- Monitoring health and safety performance, conducting regular site inspections, completing risk assessments and identifying control measures
- Providing comprehensive health and safety reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, Board and Senior Leadership Team
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of our Work Health Safety Management System (WHSMS)
- Reviewing and reporting on major incidents as required under the WHSMS
- Aligning health and safety activities across all schools by collaborating with young people, facilities and school campus leaders
- Acting as Rehabilitation and Return to Work Advisor, liaising with the regulator and Workers' Compensation Insurance as required

Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or minimum Cert IV in Work Health Safety
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work Advisor qualification and experience
- Minimum 4 years health, safety and environment experience in Australia, with a solid knowledge of federal and state legislation related to HSE programs
- Effective communication skills at all levels, including diverse groups of people
- Collaborative and active listening skills, with the ability to add value and work effectively within teams
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Ability to manage time and schedule, with a focus on risk prioritisation
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills for a variety of audiences
- Working with Children Blue Card and driver's licence
Desirable
The following qualifications and experience are highly regarded:
- Senior First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificates
- Experience working with schools, work experience programs, school-based traineeships and apprenticeships
- Experience working across multiple sites and supporting various stakeholders
