The Australian Industry Trade College seeks a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor to provide expert guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders in various critical WHS functions including compliance, reporting, and management of the safety management system.

This key role will involve designing, implementing, and monitoring fit-for-purpose health, safety, and environmental operations and tasks across all college locations. As the primary contact for employees and leaders concerning safety-related matters, you will ensure seamless compliance with local and international standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Policy Development: Designing, implementing, and maintaining WHS policies and procedures that meet legislative requirements and organisational needs
  • Maintenance of Performance Metrics: Monitoring WHS performance, conducting regular site inspections, completing risk assessments, and identifying control measures
  • Reporting and Compliance: Providing comprehensive WHS reporting for senior leadership teams, ensuring timely submission of reports and adherence to regulatory requirements
  • System Oversight: Overseeing the development and maintenance of the Work Health Safety Management System (WHSMS)
  • Incident Reporting: Reviewing and reporting on major incidents as required under the WHSMS, liaising with regulators as necessary
  • Cross-Site Collaboration: Ensuring alignment of WHS activities across multiple sites by collaborating effectively with staff, facilities managers, and campus leaders
  • Return to Work Coordination: Acting as Rehabilitation and Return to Work Advisor, coordinating with Workers' Compensation Insurance, medical professionals, and the broader team to facilitate timely return to work
  • Staff Induction and Training: Ensuring staff are properly inducted and trained to comply with company WHS policies and procedures
