Leadership Role in Admissions

Job Overview:

This leadership role focuses on providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to a team of direct and indirect reports. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, and monitoring the workload of the team daily and over the longer term to ensure adequate resources are available to meet agreed targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the admissions team to achieve targets and objectives.
  • Mentor Admission Team Leaders to ensure selection decisions are fair, consistent, transparent, and in line with university policy and external regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and networks across the university and the sector.
  • Ensure assessment of applicants' eligibility to UNSW is completed accurately and consistently across all faculty teams.
  • Manage escalated and highly complex student cases.

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree with extensive experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, and managing high-performing and effective teams.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement business improvement initiatives to achieve goals.
  • High-level capacity to implement change in a complex work environment.
  • Highly developed managerial skills demonstrated in a high-volume environment with critical deadlines.
  • Proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of admissions within the higher education sector.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, think strategically, and adopt an active approach to problem solving.
