The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) is a high-performance sporting organisation that supports Australian athletes to become world-class performers.

We are seeking a Performance Scientist to provide sports science support to Australian Sailing categorised athletes along the performance pathway from the Australian Sailing Team to the State Sailing Pathway Program.

About This Role

This role requires the delivery of general sport science support across physiology, biomechanics, and performance analysis. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on the development, prescription, and monitoring of physiological performance factors to maximise athlete training and performance.

You will collaborate with the AS Physical Preparation Lead to develop and deliver systems within the daily performance environment that will facilitate evidence-based decision making to support individual campaign plans.

The ultimate goal is to prepare athletes for top-level international competitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of general sport science support across physiology, biomechanics, and performance analysis.
  • Development, prescription, and monitoring of physiological performance factors to maximise athlete training and performance.
  • Collaboration with other teams to ensure consistency in athlete development.
  • Working with the AS Physical Preparation Lead to develop and deliver systems within the daily performance environment.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in the provision and application of sports science services.
  • Proven experience interacting with high-performance coaches and athletes and an understanding of the high-performance sport environment.
  • Undergraduate degree with Honours in Exercise, Health, Movement, and/or Sport Science.
  • ESSA Sport Scientist Level 1.
Selection Criteria
  • Experience in planning and monitoring athletic performance to achieve performance progression.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a multi-disciplinary/sport team environment.
  • Experience in operating and managing quality control and quality assurance programs to meet laboratory compliance standards.
