Operations Manager

About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to drive business growth and commercial performance in our NSW/ACT region.

This is a full-time position based in Sydney Laboratory with regular travel to laboratories required.

The Operations Manager will lead safe work practices, build high performing teams, and ensure clients experience value through smart solutions and project delivery.

The role collaborates with regional management to identify and secure work, build market profile, and increase revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute technical and delivery standards of excellence.
  • Support project delivery, interpreting, organizing and executing large scale and complex projects within timeline and budget.
  • Ensure client satisfaction levels, reviewing, evaluating and monitoring client satisfaction on project performance, and overseeing remedial actions if required.
  • Contribute to developing winning proposals, ensuring correct translation of client engagement, delivering presentations to clients, and progressing opportunities to contract execution.
  • Work with regional laboratories to ensure testing is completed within regulatory bodies, specifications and standards.
  • Work with regional management team and technical leads to assess the market and develop/improve capability and service offering.
  • Support management of project pricing, resource planning, mobilisation and utilisation to meet performance objectives.
  • Work with Regional General Manager to review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts on projects.
  • Minimise project overruns and write offs.
  • Effectively manage assets of the region.
  • Support a high performing team environment.
  • Support compliance, quality management and continuous improvement.
  • Lead safety culture and promote safe work practices.

About you:

To be successful, you will have:

10+ years experience in field and laboratory constructions materials testing to relevant Australian standards.

Business development and client engagement experience.

Established network of industry contacts and credible marketing/industry knowledge within the region.

NATA Signatory with high level of competence and understanding of AS and RMS. standards and knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Unwavering commitment to quality assurance and workplace safety.

Excellent time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills with ability to manage multiple tasks or deadlines.

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to achieve results, displaying high level of self-motivation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other required systems (LIMS).

Can work effectively under pressure, prioritising work to meet client demands.

Diploma in Laboratory Techniques is advantageous.
