Minor Works Coordinator

About the Role
The Minor Works Coordinator is a key position within the Capital Works Team at RMIT University, responsible for delivering assigned minor works projects under the direction of management and supervision of the Senior Manager Capital Works.
This role requires the ability to handle multiple minor projects simultaneously, with a good understanding of various project management practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating project user requirements, estimating project costing, monitoring project progress, and providing technical expertise to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
The Minor Works Coordinator will liaise with internal stakeholders across RMIT University and engage external project teams as required, including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, building surveyors, and building contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver multiple minor works/projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, quality standards, and cost parameters.
- Inform, engage, and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders, including consultants, stakeholders, and contractors, in a high-volume work environment.
- Provide regular updates on project progressions and outcomes.
- Manage the performance of contracts, programs, and projects, effectively delivering results on time and within budget.
- Understand and translate user requirements into sound technical specifications.
About the Team
The Capital Works Team is part of the Property Services Group, which operates, maintains, and enhances the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University. The team has an operating budget in excess of $70M and prospective capital projects of over $50M per annum for the next few years.
RMIT's built environment involves approximately 109 buildings in Melbourne, spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites. The Property Services Group consists of various branches, including Campus Strategy, PSG Operations, Capital Works, Facilities and Asset Management, Portfolio Management, and Development.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in managing and delivering minor works/projects in a large complex organization.
- Demonstrated ability to inform, engage, and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders.
- Good standard of verbal and written skills, negotiation, and interacting skills.
- Technical knowledge of construction/professional disciplines, conversant with Victorian Building Regulations, Workcover, Occupational Health and Safety, and other relevant standards.
