Job Title: Program Support Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and values-driven professional to work in a team environment supporting individuals who approach our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe space for clients, adhering to Trauma Informed Care principles.

The Program Support Specialist will report to the Community Programs Facilitator and work on a permanent, part-time basis (30.4 hours per week). This role is based in Surry Hills and Waterloo, NSW, with salary and conditions in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Community Programs Facilitator to engage with clients within the Trauma Informed Framework and participate in the Intake and Assessment process.
  • Support clients to encourage self-determination and participation, and help them improve their situation.
  • Help clients implement case plans.
  • Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of local support options for people within our network and external agencies, and work collaboratively and professionally with other agencies as appropriate and required.
  • Identify service gaps and risks, and make recommendations for service delivery improvements to the Community Programs facilitator.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area or extensive experience within the industry.
  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent.
  • National Police Check.
  • Mental health first aid training (preferred).
  • Food Handling Course (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Current valid driver's licence (preferred).
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Previous experience working in a community service setting (desirable).
  • Understanding of Trauma informed Care Framework.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
