About the PositionAs a peer support worker, you will have the opportunity to empower individuals who have recently acquired a spinal cord injury to achieve improved rehabilitation outcomes and lead fulfilling lives within their communities. Your collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare staff, volunteers, and clients, is essential in delivering holistic care.
- Provide personalized support opportunities for individuals or groups
- Guide and mentor a team of volunteers with similar experiences to deliver peer support services
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to enhance individual rehabilitation and community integration
To excel in this position, you must:
- Have personal experience of spinal cord injury
- Reside independently in the community, possibly with the support of carers
- Exhibit exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
