Job Role Overview

A key role that significantly impacts blood donation outcomes. As a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to creating a more predictable and people-focused environment with reduced hospital pressure and the opportunity to be a vital part of the community.

You will greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate, provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process, conduct routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests, set up equipment and collections apparatus, insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets, manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance, monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation.

Key Responsibilities and Training

We offer a paid and flexible self-paced training program with a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure your success. You'll need to occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs, frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down equipment and blood products, hold a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and a current AHPRA registration, and be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts.
