Job Summary

This is a challenging role that requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work well under pressure and have a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

The role involves working with donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate, providing clinical oversight and guiding other team members in the blood collection process.

The ideal candidate will have completed a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and hold a current registration with the relevant authority.

About This Role

In this role you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others by collecting life-giving donations.

You will be responsible for greeting and interviewing potential donors, providing clinical oversight and guiding other team members in the blood collection process.

Other key responsibilities include completing routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests, setting up machines and collections equipment and inserting and removing needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma and platelets.

You will also be required to manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance and monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process

Requirements
  • Completed Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Hold a current registration with the relevant authority
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday
  • Ability to occasionally lift between 9-22.7 kgs
  • Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
