This role involves providing thought leadership in developing, executing, and managing Safety Management Systems (SMS), governance, and resilience frameworks across all aspects of People and Operational Safety.
Key Responsibilities

As Senior Manager – SMS Governance & Resilience, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of safety strategies that align with business objectives. This includes:


  • Providing leadership in developing, executing, and managing Safety Management Systems (SMS), governance, and resilience frameworks;
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure safety performance, issues, and risks are visible to senior management;
  • Developing and implementing safety engagement initiatives that enhance organisational resilience and safety culture maturity;
  • Ensuring the integrity of our governance and reporting frameworks, including preparation of executive and board safety reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Minimum 8+ years' experience in safety, risk, and change management or high-risk operational roles within complex, matrixed organisations within aviation.


  • A degree in Safety or Operational management focus;
  • Meet the requirements for approval by CASA under the CASR 119.165 (Safety Manager);
  • Experience in IOSA Registration within an airline would be advantageous;
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and engage a diverse range of people;
  • Detailed knowledge of compliance, governance, and regulatory frameworks.
