Drilling Specialist for Underground Operations

At Mitchell Services, a leading provider of drilling services to the global exploration, mining, and energy industries, we're looking for skilled individuals to join our team as Drilling Specialists for Underground Operations.

We offer competitive day rate wages and bonuses for full-time permanent roles, along with comprehensive benefits that cater to our employees' needs.

The role involves working collaboratively with experienced drillers to maintain safe drilling operations in a 14 days on and 7 days off roster. FIFO arrangements from Brisbane Airport, Perth Airport, or Darwin Airport are available, or DIDO within an acceptable distance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimizing breakage and downhole loss
  • Reporting incidents immediately
  • Performing diligent prestart checks
  • Discussing hazards, near misses, and improvements
  • Ensuring accuracy in sample markup (e.g., core) and orientation where applicable

Requirements

  • A valid open car license is mandatory
  • The ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification (current)
  • An ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Demonstrated experience in an Underground Driller Offsider role is desirable
  • Able to work 12-hour days and operate in small teams
  • A good level of physical fitness, required to pass a functional assessment
