As a Safety Officer at Australian Helicopter Pilot School Pty, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our staff, students, and visitors.

The primary focus for this position will be to achieve safety goals and lead the cultural change towards a 'Safety First' approach. You will provide guidance and framework for compliance matters with key stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Foster a strong safety culture by demonstrating strong safety leadership.
  • Set the example by adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Support and mentor all staff, including management.
  • Implement best practice initiatives to ensure staff are free from risks to health and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Acts and state regulations.
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans according to internal and external policies and guidelines.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety through policies and training programs.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to laws.
  • Conduct training and presentations on health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Monitor compliance by inspecting/auditing employees and operations across designated sites.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and machinery to identify possible unsafe conditions and take corrective action.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and support employee compensation claims when necessary.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or similar, such as Certificate IV in Workplace Safety.
  • Experience in shipping, logistics, or maritime industries or similar fields.
  • Valid Driver's License.
