Safety Leadership Role in a Global Business

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety leadership and be able to develop, implement, and continuously improve health, safety, environment, and risk management processes.

Accountabilities:

  1. Proactively lead, manage and champion HSE systems and processes as a core member of the operations leadership team.
  2. Provide coaching, advice and assistance to line managers and employees on their use and implementation of HSE policies, processes, issues and initiatives.
  3. Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs in line with legislative requirements and industry best practices.
  4. Collaborate with leadership, supervision and team members at all levels to drive a proactive safety culture.
  5. Conduct risk assessments and identify hazards to ensure compliance with Dangerous Goods regulations.
  6. Investigate incidents, conduct safety audits, and observe safety behaviour to ensure timely corrective actions are assigned and completed.
  7. Deliver HSE-related training and assess competence. Assist with contractor management, inductions and work permits.
  8. Monitor and report on safety performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.

Requirements:

  1. Demonstrable Safety Leadership experience (essential)
  2. Formal training in OHS&E (highly desirable)
  3. RTW accreditation (highly desirable)
  4. Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (highly desirable)
  5. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing OHS&E policies and practices
  6. Sound experience of OHS&E Risk Management in an operational setting
  7. Working knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and standards, common law, and industry codes of practice
  8. Excellent communication, autonomous leadership capabilities, self-motivation and initiative
