Pastry Chef Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Chef to lead our team in creating exquisite desserts, pastries, and confections. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for managing daily pastry production, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining high standards of quality.

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Pastry Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pastry arts, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Design and refine seasonal pastry menu with modern techniques
  • Create dessert concepts matching the restaurant's vision to ensure creativity and precision
  • Prepare mille-feuille, tart, crème brûlée, deconstructed pavlova; produce puff pastry, tart shells, creams, sugar décor to spec
  • Uphold flawless tempering, baking, finishing
  • Ensure every plate meets taste, texture, and look standards
  • Catch juniors in plating and garnishing
  • Mentor team on technique, safety, hygiene
  • Raise section standards through skills sessions
  • Delegate tasks for smooth service flow
  • Track pastry inventory, reorder as needed
  • Minimise waste, maximise yield
  • Log stock rotation and waste data
  • Enforce HACCP, cleaning, safe handling
  • Keep pastry area spotless and organized
  • Coordinate with Head Chef and FOH for seamless service

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience: 2+ years as Pastry CDP in fine dining
  • Skills: Proven pastry, confectionery, plating skills, Modern techniques, seasonal produce knowledge
  • Qualifications: Certificate III/IV Commercial Cookery
  • Languages: English
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
