Job Description: Wurruwila Wutja Research Fellow

This is a research-only academic position that will contribute to the development and growth of outstanding Indigenous scholars. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake independent and/or team research and participate in activities within the relevant field to develop their research expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct high-quality research as a member of a team or independently, producing conference/seminar papers and publications from that research.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding sources.
  • Engage and build relationships with industry and community to communicate and adopt research results.
  • Undertake effective and efficient performance of allocated leadership functions primarily connected with the area of research.
Requirements:
  • A PhD or equivalent qualifications or demonstrated record of achievement/leadership in an area of Indigenous Knowledge.
  • Must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
  • A record of publications, conference papers and/or reports, professional or technical contributions, or contribution to knowledge which provide evidence of strong research potential.
  • Potential to apply for and obtain external funding for research.
  • Demonstrated potential to be future research leaders.
  • Ability to work with community and develop leadership aligned to community priorities.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is approximately $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include 17% employer contributed superannuation, on-site childcare facilities, flexible work arrangements, and discounts for staff and their family members to study a range of La Trobe courses.
