Key Roles and Responsibilities

As an ER/HR Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the university's performance management and employee relations activities. Your primary focus will be on providing specialist case management support to Heads of School, Business Partnering, and Faculty, ensuring that all matters are handled objectively and fairly in compliance with relevant legislation and industrial instruments.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating expert advice and conducting investigations;
  • Reviewing and developing policies and processes;
  • Ensuring that all advice and actions comply with applicable legislation and risk mitigation strategies.

To succeed in this role, you will require strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective writing and documentation skills, and the ability to influence and build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for interpreting legislation, industrial agreements, and policies, and implementing guidance and advice frameworks to foster a high-performing workplace culture. This requires a generalist HR/ER knowledge and experience gained in unionised environments, as well as specialist and up-to-date employment relations and employment law knowledge and skills.
