Job Title: Enterprise Data Protection Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Data Protection Specialist to join our team. As an Enterprise Data Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-grade backup services across a high-availability environment.
About the Role:
This is not a support desk role, but rather a hands-on position where you will lead the configuration, optimization, and day-to-day operations of backup and recovery services. You will design and refine policies, test DR readiness, troubleshoot incidents, and work closely with infrastructure and storage teams to keep systems resilient and recoverable.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Own the configuration, scheduling, and performance of backup tools
- Lead DR plan development and test recovery procedures
- Optimize storage use with deduplication, compression, and other best practices
- Act as the escalation point for complex incidents
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure licensing compliance
- Provide clear documentation for audit and compliance needs
- Collaborate across teams to ensure integrated data protection
Requirements:
- Australian Citizen with active NV1 security clearance
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise backup environments
- Strong skills with tools like Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, or Commvault
- Proven track record with DR planning, testing, and execution
Bonus Requirements:
- Backup and recovery across physical, virtual, and cloud (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with backup storage tech: tape, SAN, NAS, cloud
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Familiarity with SQL, Oracle, VMware, Hyper-V backup processes
