Job Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished Energy Storage Project Manager to lead the development of energy storage projects in Australia.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial modelling, project development, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires the ability to travel internationally as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze Australian electricity market structures, including NEM operations, state-based schemes, wholesale pricing, ancillary services, and capacity market trends.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize energy storage project opportunities at pre-Ready-to-Build (RTB) stages.
- Manage end-to-end development workflows: site selection, land acquisition, grid connection applications with AEMO and DNSPs/Transmission Network Service Providers, environmental and planning approvals, and stakeholder engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, network operators, landowners, and specialist consultants. Lead due diligence and compliance processes.
- Develop, review, and optimize financial models (LCOE, NPV, IRR) for Australian projects, incorporating sensitivity analysis, risk assessments, and market forecasting.
- Establish investment and financing partnerships with banks, infrastructure funds, institutional investors, energy companies, and power traders/retailers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including engineering, legal, regulatory, and construction, to ensure project success.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the Australian energy or power sector, with a background spanning technical, financial modelling, and project development.
- Advanced financial modelling and investment analysis skills for large-scale energy projects.
- Proven track record in energy storage project development, renewable energy M&A, or asset rotation in Australia.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills across technical teams, investors, government agencies, and communities.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
