Job Title: Public Health Medicine Specialist

A key role in supporting the Public Health Manager, leading disease control teams and guiding strategies to protect and improve health outcomes for Aboriginal communities. This exciting opportunity allows you to work in a multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural environment with a strong focus on Indigenous health and remote service delivery.

About the Role:
  • This position provides public health and clinical medical expertise in identifying and managing communicable and non-communicable diseases.
  • You will manage notifications of infectious diseases rarely seen in metropolitan settings, such as leprosy, melioidosis and flaviviruses.
  • The successful candidate will coordinate outbreak investigations and interventions, collaborating with Aboriginal health staff and community-controlled health organisations.
Requirements:
  • Unconditional general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (FAFPHM), or recognised equivalent.
  • Willingness to apply for a Medicare Provider Number.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including overnight stays away from home.
  • Commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

Based in Broome, this role may also require working across other hospitals and clinics within the Kimberley region.
