Expert Public Health Medicine Specialist

As a leading expert in public health medicine, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategies to protect and enhance the health of the Kimberley population.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert guidance on public health and clinical medical matters, including the identification and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
- Lead outbreak investigations and interventions, collaborating closely with Aboriginal health staff and community-controlled health organisations.
- Design targeted programs that address inequities in the social determinants of health, reflecting local priorities and needs.
The region faces significant challenges due to inequities in health outcomes. You will work collaboratively with a highly skilled team to manage notifications of infectious diseases rarely seen in metropolitan settings, such as leprosy, melioidosis, and flaviviruses.
Whilst based in Broome, there may be requirements to work across other hospitals and clinics within the Kimberley region. We are seeking an adaptable and culturally respectful Consultant who is committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley.
Required qualifications include unconditional general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (FAFPHM), or recognised equivalent. A current C Class drivers Licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stays away from home, are essential.
Working Requirements: Flexible working arrangements; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel throughout the Kimberley region, including overnight stays.
