Broome, Australia beBeePublicHealthMedicine Full time $180,000 - $215,000
Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Medicine Consultant to join our team in Broome. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide public health and clinical medical expertise in the identification and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as other emerging public health issues.

The region faces a significant burden of both infectious and non-infectious disease due to inequities in the social determinants of health. As a Public Health Medicine Consultant, you will regularly coordinate outbreak investigations and interventions and collaborate with Aboriginal health staff and community-controlled health organisations to design programs that reflect local priorities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage notifications of infectious diseases rarely seen in metropolitan settings, such as leprosy, melioidosis, and flaviviruses.
  • Collaborate with Aboriginal health staff and community-controlled health organisations to design programs that reflect local priorities.
  • Regularly coordinate outbreak investigations and interventions.

Requirements:

  • Unconditional general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (FAFPHM), or recognised equivalent.
  • Willingness to apply for a Medicare Provider Number.
  • Ability to be based in Broome for the duration of the contract.
  • Current C Class drivers Licence and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Culturally Respected Public Health Medicine Consultant who is adaptable, committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley, and has excellent communication skills.
