Job Title: Consultant Public Health Medicine

A highly skilled and experienced medical professional is sought to join our team as a Consultant in Public Health Medicine. This role will play a vital part in supporting the Public Health Manager, leading disease control teams, and guiding strategies to protect and improve the health of the Kimberley population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide public health and clinical medical expertise in identifying and managing communicable and non-communicable diseases.
  • Manage notifications of infectious diseases rarely seen in metropolitan settings, such as leprosy, melioidosis, and flaviviruses.
  • Coordinate outbreak investigations and interventions, collaborating with Aboriginal health staff and community-controlled health organisations to design programs that reflect local priorities.
Requirements:
  • Unconditional general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (FAFPHM), or recognised equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Medicare Provider Number.
  • Current C Class drivers Licence and willingness to travel for work, including overnight stays away from home.
  • Adaptability, cultural respect, and commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley.
