Government Account Manager

As a key member of our team at NEXTDC Ltd, you will be responsible for leading and developing our government vertical at both federal and state levels in line with our strategy, vision, and values.
You will leverage your strong experience and ties to the Australian Government community, along with your deep understanding of the buying cycles, intra-Government relationships, and a solid network of clients and partners to position yourself to win deals now and in the future.
Key Responsibilities- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide strategic advice, support the broader team in government relations, and proactively plan for RFPs and tenders.
- Government Sales Growth: Grow, manage, and retain government sales revenue, covering specifically the state and local government sector in ACT and NSW.
- Business Development: Drive business development, forecast accurately, and achieve strategic goals by leading customers through the entire business cycle.
- Executive Relationships: Build and deepen executive relationships with government clients to help us grow.
- Strategic Direction: Influence long-term strategic direction and serve as a business partner.
- Agreement Negotiation: Negotiate and manage complex agreements via the entire cycle, presenting to C-level executives in corporate and global customers.
- Experience working within Australia's ICT industry.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong selling skills with the ability to convert leads to sales and close deals.
- Exceptional networking skills and the ability to build a solid contact base.
- Australian Citizenship required for Security Clearances. NV1 desired or the preparedness to obtain that level of clearance.
- Extensive experience of the Public Sector, selling through partners or directly, with relationships and focus on local public sectors.
- Deep understanding of the Government procurement process at the federal and state level.
- Solid selling experience to organisations that utilise IT Infrastructure as a major component of their business model.
- Experience within industries that deal with Information Technology, Software, Hardware, Solutions, and associated Services with a demonstrated track record of exceeding goals.
- Experience in the management of business relationships with customers in a customer-facing role.
- Proven track records in selling within a complex selling environment with large commercial and legal negotiations.
