The Role

This fixed-term part-time position is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about community development to join our team as a Community Development Officer. You will be responsible for fostering community development activities in accordance with our Community Development Framework at the eastern housing estates.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging closely with diverse communities and creating projects from community ideas, ensuring community ownership of projects.
  • Establishing and maintaining weekly activities, such as community garden groups.
  • Supporting monthly resident group with housing officer.
  • Supporting annual fire drill evacuation training with CHL Assets Team.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with local community organisations.
  • Supporting effective communication with colleagues across CHL about community development initiatives and outcomes.
  • Participating collaboratively in CHL's community development peer support network and supervision.
  • Providing additional appropriate support to wider team and organisation.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently as part of a wider team and adapting in a fast-paced environment.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require exceptional communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly within complex and diverse conversational contexts. You will also need to demonstrate experience in a similar role, including working in partnership and building relationships with community networks.

You should have excellent time management, including high-level administration and coordination skills, and be able to apply project management methodology to achieve community development outcomes. Additionally, you will need to use your knowledge and experience of the work area to develop solutions for day-to-day problems.

Essential Criteria
  • A current drivers license.
  • A commitment to the right of all people to affordable and sustainable housing.
